From the 20th to the 23rd, I went to Yomase Onsen Ski Resort in Kitashiga, Nagano Prefecture. There is a ski school that I used to belong to. This time I was with Mr. Lin from Taiwan who was in the house until last year. He was the second ski.
On the day, Mr. Lin first went to Nagano by Shinkansen and took a walk in the city of Nagano. I started later and met at Nagano Dentetu Nagano Station and headed for Yudanaka. This local train runs all the way through the apple fields and is popular with tourists and train nerds.
20日から23日まで長野県の北志賀にあるよませ温泉スキー場に行ってきました。そこには私がかつて所属していたスキースクールがあります。今回はハウスに昨年までいた台湾出身の林君と一緒でした。彼は2回目のスキーでした。
当日林君は先に長野まで新幹線で行って長野の街を散策しました。私は後からスタートして長野電鉄長野駅で待合せをして湯田中に向かいました。このローカル電車はりんご畑の中をずっと走るので観光客や電車おたくには人気です。

長野電鉄はりんご畑の中を走る趣のあるローカル電車です。上野からホテルKAIWAまで3時間です。
The hotel staff will pick us up at Yudanaka Station by car. We will arrive at Hotel KAIWA in about 10 minutes. This hotel is run by Toshihiro Kaiwa and his son. Mr.Kaiwa is a professional skier who has participated in the Olympic Games twice. The hotel is right in front of the slopes. The bath is a natural hot spring.
湯田中駅にはホテルから車で迎えに来てくれます。10分ほどでホテルKAIWAに着きます。このホテルは海和俊宏というかつてオリンピックに出たプロスキーヤーとその息子のさんが運営しています。ホテルはゲレンデの目の前です。そしてゲレンデから滑って帰って来れる便利な場所にあります。お風呂は天然の温泉です。
今シーズンは大雪でホテルKAIWAは毎日除雪をしているそうです。
Thursday, January 20
It was snowing on the afternoon of the first day, but Lin went to the slopes immediately. At first, it was a level where I could barely stop on the gentle slope at the bottom.
1月20日(木)
1日目午後、雪が降っていますが林君は早速ゲレンデへ。最初は1番下の緩い斜面で止まることがやっとできるレベルでした。
小雪が舞うゲレンデは圧雪した上に10センチほどの積雪、初心者の林君でもパウダーを滑りました。リフト下に見える右側のシュプールは林君のライン。ホテルからゲレンデまで滑って出ることができ滑って戻ることができます。
January 21st (Friday)
Snow on the morning of the second day. Lin is now able to make a few turns, but he can't control it well when the slope is steep.
In the afternoon, the snow gradually cleared up and in the evening there was a blue sky. And Lin tried the second lift and was able to make a turn and go down while the middle slope was unstable.
1月21日(金)
2日目午前、雪。林君は少しターンができるようになりましたが斜面が急になるとうまくコントロールできません。
午後、雪が次第に晴れてきて夕方には青空も出ました。そして林君は2番目のリフトに挑戦し中斜面も不安定ながらターンをして下りることができました。
ホテルでは４階の和室に宿泊しました。ツインベッドの部屋もあります。窓の外には２m以上の氷柱が目の前に見えました。朝食はバイキング形式でした。お風呂は天然温泉で体が温まり疲れが取れます。
Saturday, January 22
It was fine in the morning of the third day. Repeat various exercises on the turn.
In the afternoon we went to the top of the mountain because it was sunny. There is also a detour course from the top of the mountain, so even beginner Lin managed to get off. Once you experience a steep slope, the middle slope feels easy. It ends when the turn is solid.
1月22日(土)
3日目午前、快晴。ターンのいろいろな練習を繰り返す。
午後、快晴なので山頂まで行きました。山頂からは迂回コースもあるので初級者の林君もなんとか下りることができました。一旦急斜面を経験すると中斜面は簡単に感じます。ターンがしっかりしてきたところで終了。
左側の林の向こうに乙女ゲレンデが広がっています。朝日が綺麗な3日目の朝。
あまりの快晴で気持ちの良いスキー日和だったので午後には初心者の林君を山頂まで連れて行きました。
山頂のはるか下に湯田中の街が見えるくらいの急斜面。でもご安心ください。林君の後ろに見えるのは初級者でも滑れる迂回コースです。
January 23 (Sun)
It was fine on the 4th day, and it was the last day, so I thought I should stop the mountaintop, but since it was fine, we went to the mountaintop again. And we challenged a wide forest course called Maple Leaf. Lin slid down a long distance without any problems. It was a satisfying run from my point of view. After having lunch, I headed for Tokyo on the Shinkansen. My legs have muscle pain.
1月23日(日)
4日目快晴、最終日なので山頂はやめようかと思いましたが、快晴なので再度山頂へ。そしてメイプルリーフという広い林間コースへ挑戦。林君問題なく長距離を疾走。私から見ても満足のいく滑走でした。ランチを食べ終わり、一路新幹線で東京へ向かうのでした。脚が筋肉痛。
4日目も快晴なので再び山頂へ。でも気温は低いので私はフードを被った怪しげな風貌。
午前中のスキーを終え、長野に向かう長野電鉄内から見るよませスキー場。さっきまでいた山頂が見える。JR長野駅でお土産を買い新幹線で一路上野へ。
